Program Goal Oak Brook School provides age appropriate daily activities which meet our program goals and objectives. Children have many opportunities for periods of free choice and play. Small and large group activities are scheduled in order to provide opportunities for specific instruction and group interaction. Each lead teacher develops their own daily schedule with the approval of the director and submits weekly lesson plans. Lesson plans and schedules are posted by each classroom for parents to observe. We also have a special guest every month speaking to the children on safety, stranger danger, dental hygiene, or entertaining them with puppets, magic shows, or fun events that tie in with our monthly theme.
Attendance For children to gain the most from school, please be considerate to the teacher’s scheduling by being on time for morning lesson.
Parent Involvement Parent involvement is an essential component of any child development program. Parents are encouraged to visit and participate in their child’s class and to attend all open houses and special programs.
Visitation You are welcome to drop by and observe your child at any time. Observation windows are provided for this purpose. We encourage you to see your child without his/her seeing you. This eliminates interruptions in the classrooms and disappointment when your child does not get to leave with you.
Parent Teacher Conferences Teachers and Directors are available by appointment for conferences. Please do not expect a teacher to stop and have a discussion with you, when she is responsible for other children. This is not fair to the other children or teacher.
General Guidelines Oak Brook School encourages children to share books, records or other items which contribute to the education programs. Guns, soldiers, toys, jewelry, candy or gum are not permitted at the school.
Vacation Policy Families enrolled in a full time year round programs and have been here for at least 6 months will be given 2 vacation weeks when your child is not in attendance for a full week. Vacation must be taken in whole week (M-F) increments and do not carry over year to year. If you are a Part-time family (M,W,F or T, Th) you do not receive any vacation credit.
